Brittany's wedding is getting close!!
Oh boy, this month is the big day! Got a lot of fun stuff coming up. Less than two weeks till the bachelorette party, and just 18 more days till the wedding! yay! Gotta come up with our make up colors. She has been really savvy with money and one of the ways she is saving is doing our own make up. I am pretty excited to help with this, I love doing make up. We will mainly be using MAC colors. I sell Mary Kay so I have a few items I can use to help out since I have a bunch of free samples. This will save the bridesmaids a lot of money also. MAC has great make up but is really expensive to get done by one of their reps. So, some of the colors we have looked at are show...

I still need to get skin tones for lips and cheeks. Hopefully I will have enough samples that everyone will find one that matches them! More to come...

Dining set ideas...
So I have been browsing the web for ideas on how to decorate, and I have really come to like the pub/bar style dining table sets. I don't know if I would want backs on the chairs, or cute little bar stools. Some of the ones I found that I really liked are way too much but I hope to find something similar at a discount store, or even start thrifting to see if there is something I can work with there.
I just hope I can find one for a decent price. I don't want to go over $300 if possible. Most of the ones I really like are more so I'm hoping my bargain shopping instincts can help me find one for less. More ideas to come.

Decorating Ideas...
So, I have a pretty definite job offer, roommate and condo lined up. The only problem is I don't have my own furniture! I am looking around to get ideas of why style I want. I don't want anything that can become outdated too fast, but rather neutral to time. I have found a few things I like...

I like the color scheme, but not a fan of the white couches. I would probably go with more browns or tans...

I don't really like the bed spread, but those colors are fun and wouldn't get old fast. I might do more with color though. Or play with accessories to add color...

I really like the furniture set in that last pic. I could easily take that with me when I go to live with Brett. We will see what else there is. I will try to add more ideas later. I love decorating!

What to do, what to do...
Soooo.... I had my interview last week, and I think it went really well... just waiting to hear back now. In the meantime, I have found out there is a possible Art History job opening at a local high school, and they would want me to coach cheerleading also. Sounds like an amazing gig, the only problem is I was planning on moving 3 hrs away this summer. That would mean I would have to stay here for at least another year. That also means at least another year of long distance, which sucks. If I get the job at the LCVA I think I will take it and just manage with waitressing part time also to pay the extra bills. I know I will be happier if I take that job too. I just don't know what to do, I know the "smart" thing would be take the full time teaching job that offers benefits and counts towards retirement, but then again I would be miserable, and not have as much time to go visit Brett. I don't get to see him very much as it is. Blarg... I don't know. I guess I just need to wait and see if I get this job at LCVA first. Then I can go from there. Why can't things just be simple???
Some sweet pics...
Check out the pictures in this link of the volcano in Iceland, they are some amazing photos! Keep those affected by it in your prayers.

So much going on!
So I had my first ever phone interview! ha, I was less nervous once they called and started talking. It was not as intimidating as I had figured. I'm seriously hoping to get this job, it would make me so happy, and I would be able to finally move to be with Brett!! It's for an assistant educator at LCVU. So that's pretty sweet. Plus I'd be responsible for hiring and training volunteers. I can finally say I have a job worth going to! lol.
Well, next week I get to have my first surgery. Let's just say I'm less than thrilled about it. At least I will get rid of this crap that is causing trouble and hope it doesn't return down the road. Whenever the doctor says "cancer" it automatically sounds scary, but I was more concerned with the future effects that could be caused by the surgery. I guess I shouldn't worry, it doesn't do anything other than upset me, and things work out for the right reasons. I know God has this under control so I need to just relax.
Lot's of other exciting things are going on too! Brittany's wedding is coming up fast! Next weekend is the bridal shower, then we get to plan for the bachelorette party, and then it's the wedding! Between those events, the surgery, and driving to Farmville all the time I'm gonna be poor haha. Glad this tax return is coming, I need the money!
Well, I need to eat dinner, so it's time to go. I need to post more often, I've been slacking lately.

MORE SNOW?? you better be kidding....
ICK! They are calling for more snow, and I have had enough to last me the rest of my life. I don't like cold weather and I don't like snow. I know it's "pretty" but bc of where we live we don't get it much and it closes EVERYTHING down. And we all know people cant drive in general, so snow mixed into the equation is a joke! Urg.. I hope if it does snow the worse thing that comes of it is a 2hr delay so we dont have to make it up and I can make some money! ha.
Yeah, didn't get that job, but I figure it's probably for the best since I am trying to move. Normally the people that fill in for those jobs are asked to stay, and I would hate to have to turn that down. So things work out for the best and I will be able to move this summer without feeling like I am leaving something behind.
Time to drive out to the boyfriend again. He has his season opener this weekend weather permitting. Poor team has canceled their first 4 games already since they can't use their field. Sucks bigtime! I'm hoping they get to play. We shall see, depends on what happens the next two days too. Stupid snow.

Interview time!
Woooo! Time to get psyched about a possible contract job! I have an interview Friday morning and I'm totally excited but pretty nervous at the same time. I haven't had many interviews for my actual field, so I don't know what to expect for the most part. I hope I do great and really wow them into thinking I'm the best for the job and they have to have me! ha. I'm revamping my portfolio to make sure its updated and has everything I need in it. I'm really praying this job works out, I could use the experience and the money! Wellllll.... I guess I will post how it goes.
Also, I am pretty excited about going to see the boo this weekend. I will be glad when I can move there and not have to travel to spend time together. Until then I will be glad with the time I do get to spend with him.

Bored at work
So, I'm giving an English SOL pre-test and they are just being sooo quiet! I'm rather enjoying being in here, but I finished my puzzles for the day and now I have nothing to work on. I need to find a new book. The kids are supposed to watch some lame video when they are done with the test, but I made a deal that I would tell their teacher we ran out of time if they would work on their hw instead. That way they get a head start and dont have as much for tonight, and we dont have to watch a totally dull 80's educational english video hah. Well, this keyboard is loud so I'm gonna go.

Bored with my locks...

So I was seaching the internet for ideas for ways to wear my hair. I'm pretty tired of just pulled up in a ponytail or straightened. I found mostly prom styles, not what I want for work. I found a couple that are more along the lines of what I'm looking for, but can't seem to find any that I think will work for my hair.

I'm tired of boring. Maybe I should go crazy like these people and make my hair into animals. I think Lady Gaga would love it. I wonder how fast I would get fired if I came to work looking like this:

Hahaha..... I guess I'm not THAT bored. Oh well. I guess I will just have to play around with my hair and figure out something that works.

SNOW!

So we never get a good snow fall in our area, so whenever they call for snow it makes me laugh. I went out of town this weekend to spend time with my boyfriend and found myself snowed in....the worst part was I had blabbed my mouth about how I would be fine because there was not going to be that much snow to worry about it. Totally eating my words! Ha. We got a little over a foot of snow! The only time I have seen that much is when I went snowboarding, the last time it snowed I think we got about 4" and I thought that was a lot. Haha. I'm sure to people who get snow all the time a foot isn't a big deal, just a pain in the ass for all the mess it makes, but for me it was pretty cool to see that much. That was until I was supposed to drive home... Luckily schools closed so I didn't have to miss work. The down side is today was already a make up day from the storms we had in November, now we have 3 days to make up because school is closed again tomorrow. I understand it's for safety reasons, and I admit I like being able to have the extra time to get things done, but I do need to work so I can pay my bills, and if we have to make up school on a Saturday I will be less than thrilled to make that money. I just hope they can get a handle on the roads tomorrow so we can get back to school by Weds. The days we are missing are exam days, and I heard someone say we might have to make up all four exams in one day. That will be hell. The students will be pissed as well. During exams each block is extended 20mins, and they are already 90min blocks to begin with, so imagine 25 kids sitting in 4 classes all day taking tests and each class having an extra 20mins tacked on. That is bad for both students and teachers. Ick.
I was glad to get home today, not because I didn't want to spend an extra day with my boyfriend, because that would have been really nice, but because they are calling for more bad weather. A wintry mix. Yuck. I do not need to be driving in that crap. No thanks. I was stuck in the snow and it took 3 guys to clear out the driveway enough to get my car out so I could go home today. It didn't help that they buried my car in the snow in the first place.
Poor Kendra! Hahah...Oh well, tomorrow I get to play in the snow! yay. For now I need to be going to sleep. My eyes are telling me it's past my bedtime. Nighty night!

Mental Health Day
So last night as I was attempting to fall asleep, everything that I had to get done was buzzing in my head and keeping me awake. This morning was not good either, so I called in sick. I have gotten most of the things I need done, like mail in my transcript requests, finish my grad school app, and such. I still need to fill out an app for the job at Longwood I saw posted, and to write my essay for my grad school app. Most everything else is done now though! I applied to Chesterfield Co. which is kinda funny bc I did my student teaching there and vowed never to go back, but it could be a job and it's definitely closer to where I want to be.
I have got to find a way to deal with my stress because I can't just take a "mental health day" everytime I realize there is much to be done. I hope that I get accepted into Longwood so I can get my Masters of Special Education. I feel like if I don't do something with my life soon I might end up in a mental ward. I am just so annoyed that I haven't been able to get a contact job and having to pay for insurance out of pocket is not pretty... It feels like it's just one thing after another since I got out of college. Lame.
Well, I should be working on my essay, so I guess I need to stop playing online and go back to getting that done.

Stress Overload!
Ugh...I seriously need a vacation from this house! I have lived away from home for the last 5 years, and due to events out of my hands I have found myself living back home to save some money... However, it is starting to wear out my patience. I have been looking into going to Grad school for my MS in Special Ed, and the main school is where my boyfriend is coaching which is great. Well, my mother seemed to feel that unless he wanted to put a ring on my finger then she was going to cut me off if I moved out there. AHH. She knows I want to have my life under control before I committee to anyone, and he can't afford to support the both of us right now. I feel like I have to always explain every detail of my life to her and I don't think I should have to do that. If she is going to hold money over my head as a way to manipulate my life than she can keep it and I will find a way. I don't like that. I want to be happy, and he makes me happy. We have talked about getting married, and eventually it will happen, just not right now. I want to be settled in a job and have things in perspective. I know that when the time is right it will happen, so why push it just because I want to move out that way? Blahhh. I really needed to vent....
Anyhow... today I went to Brittany's mom's house to start on the bridesmaids dresses. They are going to be really pretty! I had to have mine taken in a lil more in the lower back bc my bubble butt created a big gap between my back and butt that looked like i had a weird pooch haha. I didn't really help with the dresses, but I made brownie sundays! I'm good at the food thing, so I will stick to that hahaha.
Next weekend I am going to visit my boyfriend so I am looking forward to that. Getting out and spending time with him will be good for me. I love my family, but living here has made me really moody lately and I know it's time for me to move on.

2010!
Happy New Year! It has started off pretty good, so we will see what happens throughout 2010. Brett and I have spent the last 3 New Years together. Hopefully this year will be better for us and we won't have to deal with anymore stupid drama. I think it will be different now that he is in Farmville, and I have a steady job so money isn't a factor in the problems now. I just hope I am able to find a good job there this summer, and for next school year. I want to be able to move there by this summer, but that won't happen unless I can get a job around there. Also, friendships that have had issues seem to be resolving themselves, so hopefully this year will be better along the lines of strained relationships and drama. It's not high school or even college anymore, welcome to the real world. I have learned a lot about myself, and been somewhat surprised about how much I put up with and when I need to cut ties. I hope that my ability to deal with things can carry over into the work field, I know I will need all the patience I can get with the way things are going right now.
I have hope that I will be able to move up from here and things will gradually get better. They might not be how I had imagined things being after college, but they aren't so bad that I can really sit here and complain about it either. I have a great boyfriend, a good group of friends, and a warm bed to sleep in and a job to pay the bills. Setting goals is more along my lines than making a new years resolution, so my goals are going to be to save up some money, make good financial choices, and get a better job, or equivalent one around Brett and get my own apt. Now that my car is paid off I will have that money to be able to pay for insurance and I hope I can find a job that will offer benefits so I won't have to pay so much out of pocket. We will see how these pan out over the year. So here's to a great year!

Christmas Eve Eve... ha
Tomorrow is already Christmas Eve?! Sheesh... I need to go over my gifts and make sure I didn't forget anything and if so run out and get them! EEk. Brett will be home tomorrow, can't wait. I want to move out there so bad, but I have to finish my job here and find one there. I was talking to my good friend tonight and realized that so many people we know have shown their true colors and that we just don't have anything holding us here anymore. Even though we both have family here, there is just nothing more for us here. It seems like when you are in college and there is an abundance of people and things to do that you don't stop to think who is really a friend to you. Once that is over and you are working all the time and don't have time to go out or party, then you start to find out who stays in touch and who stays in the college mind set. I miss the carefree feeling of college, where your biggest concerns are getting papers and projects done, and getting good grades. I guess that can't last forever, but sometimes I wish it could. At least I have a good set of close friends now. I know who I can rely on, and that even if things are sour it will work out. I'm greatful for that. Lately I have had a real easy time focusing on what is wrong with my life, and what I want, and how it could be so much better. I need to look around and be happy with everything I do have. It could always be so much worse. Even though it might not be what I had imagined life would be like by now, it isn't just me. It's a lot of people, and many of them are my age. We just happened to graduate at a time where our economy is in the gutter and have to wait it out. At least I have a job that allows me to afford my insurance, bills, and food. "The job" will come eventually, and if not then I will find another path to follow. There isn't just teaching art in the world, and I know that if I went to back to school I would do it with more drive than last time. Well, I guess I will go find something to do. I can't wait till tomorrow.

Tis the season...to be broke!

Blah! I thought I had saved up the perfect amount of money for my shopping and I had... until I got an email from my mom telling me that my insurance bill was $404.00!! Def. did not budget that into this paycheck, and I don't get paid again till the 30th... oh, and it's due TOMORROW. Yeah, awesome. So basically I am screwed and not sure what I am going to do.
Anyways, other than that I got most of my shopping done. Brett and I are going up to the outlets in Williamsburg on our way out to Farmville after Christmas. Or at least that was the plan until that lovely email I read.... LAME. So I will see what I can do, I guess if I have to I can pull money from my savings and use that, but I'm trying so hard to save money. I had used all my savings for my car payments when I was in between paychecks.... I can't wait to get a contract teaching job where benefits are offered and I can reasonable save a decent amount of money. I hate this lack-of-jobs situation the economy has created... I don't think that the arts should be cut from schools funding or even thought of as less of a course than English or Science. Music, Art, Cooking, and such are all very important courses that have been proven that students who elect to take these courses are more successful in their core curriculum class and excel in other areas.
I was taking pictures for Christmas cards the other day and really wish I had the money for more lenses for my camera. Maybe one day I can afford to do the things I'd like, until then I have to spend my money on the things that are necessary to live day-to-day. Not my idea of the dream. Pretty lame and crappy to be honest. If only I could come up with some catchy item that I could sell and make millions. Too bad there are millions of people out there trying to do the same thing, best luck to ya! Well, I guess I will go work on something since I really don't have anything to do right now. Tomorrow is the last day before winter break. I need it! The kids at school are out of control and can't be quiet or sit still for less than 5 mins. with out asking to go to the bathroom or the office or just get out of the classroom.... I think for everyones sanity we need the break! haha

Cruise?

So I got a call from one of my girlfriends from college. We cheered together and were instantly great friends. She and I had mentioned something about a cruise next summer a few months ago, and tonight decided that we should really go for it. So now I have to make sure I can put enough money aside for the next few months to put down the deposit and then pay the rest by Aug. Hopefully I will be able to, I've always wanted to go on a cruise, and now that I'm working a steady job I can reasonably put the money aside for it without going broke lol. It's nice to have something to plan ahead for. I usual don't get too excited about these ideas, but I finally am in a place in my life where it could really happen, and I paid for it. :) I like the idea of being able to support myself and not rely on anyone to get things done for me. It's a good feeling to say "I did that" and not have any help doing so. Sounds pretty silly, but if you were in my shoes you would understand. I think I'm more excited about the idea of wearing my prom dress again than anything haha. Formal night sounds fun! I guess it's good that I pretty much am the same size I was in high school. I might have a few more lbs. on me, but not enough to keep me from fitting into my dress! hehe. I'm just in a good mood. Maybe because this weekend was so good. I went to see my boyfriend and had one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. We went to dinner and a movie ( the Blind Side) which was AMAZING, and then stayed in Sat. and Sun. just watching our favorite shows he got on dvd. It was really nice to just spend time together goofing off and not dealing with the drama of what his friends think. I'm convinced that if both the girls that cause the drama were in committed relationships they would shut up. It's not his fault they can't keep a guy, or don't want to. They feel threatened whenever one of them starts getting serious with anyone outside for their little circle. GROW UP. So I've removed myself and just don't keep in touch with that stuff. I have more important things to do with my time... like blog about it haha... oh geez. Anyhow, it was a wonderful weekend. I didn't want to come back. Work is good, but working with all girls is kinda lame. I don't involve myself in their personal lives, and as a result I'm kind if a loner, but I'm not there for friends, I'm there to earn experience in a school setting and get a contract eventually. Plus they're military wives and one is leaving next week. Not that military spouses are a bad thing, just tend to be like sorority girls and click together. I can understand needing that support, I dated a guy when he went to Afghanistan, but that lifestyle wasn't for me. It was nice to have those people around that could relate, but I saw how they singled out people, and it was like you had to be invited to join their group. I don't know why people do that stuff. I try to be nice to everyone until they give me a reason to dislike them. There are very few people who I automatically take a dislike to... one being if you voted for Obama. Thanks you socialist bastards... but other than that I try to not judge, that's not my place. I think one group that hurts me the most is homosexuals. I love my gay friends to death, but how do you tell someone you don't think you will see them in heaven for the way they live? I have some amazing friends that I feel this way about and I know they know I don't dislike them for who they are, but it hurts me that I don't agree with their lifestyle. I do know that if my kids ever turned out that way I would have a really hard time with it. I don't think that makes me a bad person either. I don't agree with it and I don't want my children to live that way. Wow, this has turned into a rant about lots of odd topics. I guess that means I'm getting tired and need to get off of this thing haha.

What is a true friend?
So, I was always under the impression that a true friend was someone that you could be honest with and they would understand, especially when you are trying to help. Apparently I misread something along the way. I think that this time I've just had enough and knowing that I've done nothing wrong I have no remorse or guilt for this rift in a friendship. I feel that if I can't be honest with someone I've known my entire life then what is the point of our friendship? I offered not to drink so I could take her out to have fun and get her mind of things that were bothering her, so when I said we should keep that topic out of our conversation and she continued to talk about all the things that were going wrong, I told her it was turning the mood sour and I was under the impression she didn't want to thing about that stuff, hence why we went out in the first place. Apparently that makes me rude.I had a long week as well and really needed to get out and have some fun but, if she needed to talk fine, I was there for her. Just not at a bar.. I asked her if she wanted to go home and talk about it and she got really upset with me. Basically I'm a bitch for not wanting to sit at a bar and watch my friend get drunk and make a scene about her problems, when everyone was staring and being rude. But since I offered to go back home and talk, I'm the rude one. Somehow that just doesn't add up to me... I'm tired of covering for her lies and being there for her when the one time I want to go have fun too and not talk about what is wrong in the world I get accused of being a lame friend and ruining her night. I thought that I was doing the right thing, what a REAL friend would do. I guess not. What else do you do in that situation? Let them act like a drunken fool and have people give ugly glares and sit back and do nothing? I'm sad that something so ridiculous as a guy she's been seeing for less than a year can cause so long of a friendship to rift and this time, I'm over it. Who needs a friend that will act like that when you try to help them? Not me. I have enough going on that I don't need added drama of who she said what to, and keeping try to cover for her incase someone confronts her. Forget that. I'm done.
